Oh, what a night! Thank you to my friends and family who came out to support me and my most recent book, Alisha's Story, Sequel to the Shelter at Papa's Farm. The party was a great success. There is nothing better than sharing my work and creations with cherished friends and family. We had beautiful weather where guests were able to mingle inside or outside on the deck. The kids were able to play out in the yard, running off their energy. And, there was enough room for others to sit around the dining room table enjoying Chicken Wings, Shrimp Jambalaya, Lasagna Roll Ups, Ziti Chicken and Broccoli, Ziti and Meatballs, Salad and Chicken Salad. Dessert included Brownies by "Cathy" and a light and fluffy Cool Whip salad. I also made a Sangria -- a little too tart for me, but the pitcher was empty at the end of the night!! I was asked to write a book of my recipes! What a wonderful compliment -- hey, maybe I will. Thank you again to everyone who came out to kick off my marketing campaign for Alisha's Story but especially for the support you always show me!! Elizabeth M. Finally - yeah! Right now, it is at 80,038 words. Once it is edited, the word count will most likely be decreased. And, once it is edited, I will share some of the story with you. Editing takes time - it's difficult to go through the editing process. I am still hopeful to have the book ready for publication by early March, 2015. Hope you'll keep watching for it!!Elizabeth M. Whitehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16902045958650590198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4601664595033401226.post-58875279556004516432014-12-01T09:26:00.000-08:002014-12-01T09:26:12.090-08:00Hello Thank you to all my faithful fans for continuing to follow me even though I haven't been very good at posting!! My other interest, painting, has kept me too busy but I am back now to writing. The sequel to The Shelter at Papa's Farm is just about finished. Alisha's Story, starts where The Shelter ended and is narrated by one of the main characters, Alisha. She tells the story of what has happened to the Country, to the Farm, to her family and friends. The book should be finished and edited and ready for publication by early March, 2015. I also took a trip to Italy with my sister. We traveled Rome, Southern Italy including Sorrento, Positano, Mt. Etna, Pompeii, other ruins, the Vatican, and then Sicily. My grandparents were from Spadafora, Sicily and we were able to meet and visit cousins there and walk the streets our grandparents walked. It was a wonderful trip and experience. I have tried to post pictures, but they won't take -- sorry. I have so many beautiful ones!! If you ever do get a chance to travel, Italy is certainly worth visiting. So, I am back to writing!! Once edited, I will post when and where it's available. I might even post the prologue or chapter here -- stay tuned!Elizabeth M. Whitehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16902045958650590198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4601664595033401226.post-90688739131634810402014-03-20T07:26:00.001-07:002014-03-20T07:26:22.392-07:00I think it worked!I think it worked!! So, I am back on my "old" laptop to see if I can still operate this blog. Sorry to my faithful followers that I haven't posted lately, but I haven't been able to figure out the compatibility issue. So, I have been busy with the sequel. No, sorry again, it isnt finished yet but I am so close!! I will post here when it's finished and will give you a "sneak peak" here. I was at an author's night last night held at a boutique in Whitman, MA - The Flying Pig Emporium - where my book is for sale. I have other items there too - my art, my soaps, my candles, and other crafts. It's a neat store and my "art" has kept me away from finishing my book - but (wow, lot's of buts, here) I am back to my sequel. I sure hope this posts!! Thanks again for following me!!Elizabeth M. Whitehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16902045958650590198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4601664595033401226.post-83324767131551013762013-02-12T11:40:00.000-08:002013-02-12T11:40:09.645-08:00EerieI wrote a "New Year" blog in the morning on December 30th. I mentioned how grateful I was to still be able to have quality visits with my Mom in spite of her poor health. Later in the day, I was called to the nursing home where my mother had been living for quite a months due to her failing health. My wonderful Mom passed away that afternoon. I will truly miss her. This is my tribute to her:

It is a sad day for us. We lost my Mom late yesterday afternoon. She passed peacefully with family surrounding her. Mom's struggles are over for her and we know that she is now at peace and very happy to be reunited with my Dad, brother, and grandchildren who all left this world before her. Her parents, who left Italy and sailed to America in the early 1900's, died within months of each other when my Mom was only 15. Mom was second to the youngest of her eight siblings and is the last survivor of them. My grandmother died of complications to surgery and a couple of months later, my grandfather, a commercial fisherman, died at sea when his boat exploded off the coast of Cape Cod. Mom's older siblings cared for her until she met my Dad. They married and had six children. From those six children, Mom is survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. From her eight siblings, she has many nieces and nephews who share our love for her. Most families have Christmas parties in their homes, but our family was so large that a Function Hall was hired for our annual Christmas party full of many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Mom has many life long friends here in Massachusetts and made many more close friends during her twenty years as a "snowbird" in Florida. I know that Mom and Dad are up there dancing up a storm. I can see them "jitterbugging" again, a dance I loved to watch them do. She will be sorely missed by all and lovingly remembered by many. Peace be with you, Mom.
The other night, I was watching TV, surfing the channels and came across Mike Huckabee on Fox News. I am going to take his lead and I am going to concentrate on all the experiences in my life that I should be grateful for. I am not going to dwell on all the horrible, heart breaking things that happened in 2012. For me, I am grateful for my friends and family. I am blessed to have been able to spend time with my six, delightful grandsons, to watch them grow, to watch them learn, to watch them discover new things. I am grateful for my husband who is always willing to lend a hand to anyone without question, without hesitation. I am grateful that I am still able to visit my mother, although her health is deteriorating. I am grateful that I was able to write and publish my first novel, a feat that took me a long time to accomplish, but accomplish I did. I am grateful that the words for my second novel, a sequel to my first, are flowing and being put down on paper! I am grateful to my doctors who have been able to keep my health in check and who continue to watch over me and take care of me. I am grateful to all the new writers I have met both in person and on the internet who share their ideas, who help me write better. I am not the type of person to make New Year's Resolutions as I have never been able to keep those that I did make. However, I will strive to be a better person, to be healthier and happier. I will pray for Peace for my loved ones, my friends, our Country, and our World.Elizabeth M. This review is by Readers Favorite.

Book Review/7520

Reviewed by Joy Hannabass for Readers Favorite

James has a dream. In this dream he is told to build an underground shelter for his family because the world is about to end soon. But the problem is, his family does not agree with James, and he really has a difficult time trying to gather the family to the shelter at the farm. And this just adds fuel to the heated arguments James and his sister, Alisha, because the topic of the end of the world is something they have argued about most of their adult life. Then a bomb is dropped by an Iraqi madman, and at last the family believes what James has been telling them. But it a bit too late, so all don’t make it to the farm. The family that do gather at the shelter is there for over two years before they have a chance to try and contact those family members that did not make it to the shelter. Can you imagine being in one house like a shelter with so many family members, along with the animals and trees, plants, all of the food, as well as the other things you need to survive? Will this family survive these years in the shelter? And what happened to the family members that didn’t make it to the shelter with them at first?

Author Elizabeth M. White creates a host of characters that have split outlooks on the Bible and the end of the world, creating a lot of chaos, and keeping the plot interesting enough to keep you reading until the end so that we can find out the fate of this family. The story goes pretty fast, and I read it in one day. Though this book is listed as Christian fiction, I do want to warn readers that throughout the book God’s name is used many times in vain, in several different ways. If you enjoy fast-paced thrill type books, and especially end of the world stories, you will enjoy this book. So why not pick up a copy today for your enjoyment.
I don't know why things work one day and then not the next. Anyone else experience this or is it just me? Anyway..... I wanted to remark/comment on the 5-star review that I recently received from a reviewer on Goodreads, Rev. Kim Justice. I have posted it below. You can also go to Kim's website/blog: http://breathoflifebookreviews.blogspot.com/ for the review of my book and the reviews of others. One Word: WOW

Author Elizabeth M. White took me from a regular family doing regular family things to an all out end of the time war torn blitz on the world. Right from the start the book held my attention. I loved how instead of "Chapter One and etc.", the book was mark as time. Example Summer 2011 or November 2014.

What goes on with in this book could begin here and now. If you believe, as I do that the Lords coming is soon at hand. Then this book is something that you also should read. I know it is fictional but any author that can help to open our eyes to see things that could happen, well they get my vote.

The characters within the pages seem real. I continually found myself thinking of my family and how would we deal with the "What Ifs". Made me realize that I should be more of a Christian Mother. To make sure my family makes the right choices and to know the Lord as their personal Savior. Each character plays so real within the confines of today's world.

As you know I try my best not to give out spoilers. But on the other hand I will link you to my Teaser Tuesday. It may not be a lot but it is a good one.

I try not to let any one thing decide my opinion on a book. I have checked out some other reviews of this book and mostly they are good. And by the way I only did this AFTER reading the book for myself. I love getting my hands on a book that not a lot of others have read. This book is an awesome, clean worded, down to reality, to not way out in another world. It has some mystery, love, good plot, great flow in reading.

Due to the above I honestly, whole heartedly can not wait to see what Author Elizabeth M. White does next. So for the reasons stated above I am happy to give a Breath of Life rating of:

I knew I was opening up another chapter of writing, by exposing my book to reviewers. From my own experience, I know that there are books that I have read and loved, yet others who read the same book, didn't like it. Then there are those books that I really didn't like and had a hard time finishing, and others who read it and loved it. I wasn't sure what I was getting my self into, but it was a step I felt I had to take.
So, I sent my book out to 5 reviewers. I have heard back from 2 of them. I will admit that the first review that I received was not very good, only a 2-star but hey, I've rated some books by famous authors with only 2 stars. I wasn't happy, but that was that reviewer's opinion. Then, a couple of days later, my mood quickly changed when I received my first 5 STAR review. With the reviewers permission, I am reposting her critique. Here it is:
This is a postapocalyptic book.

The plot centres around one family but reaches out beyond this.

James is adamant that the world is about to end as prophesied in the Bible, he then amends this statement that the world is about to end as we know it.

He spends 2 years building an underground shelter that he is told about in a dream, he is like a modern day Noah.

In April 2014 while some of the family are visiting him the sirens go off.

Everybody across America heads for underground shelters.

Nuclear bombs land and devastate this and many other countries.

Then the book really gets into its stride, there is love and loss, faith and doubt, courage and team spirit, depression and exhilaration. You will be taken on an emotional roller-coaster ride.

The character’s are real and the style is very good, it is easy to read and the numerous characters are all distinct from each other.

It is a book which will leave you wanting more.

I hear there is a sequel in the pipeline and I await its arrival eagerly.

Star rating 5/5 I loved it.

What was your life like prior to the war?

But, those are just things. What was your life like?

Stressful. My husband, Richard, owned his own construction company. I had a job with one of the larger insurance companies in Boston. We both made very good incomes. But, we weren’t happy. We weren’t enjoying life. Everything was always done in a rush. Rushing to work, rushing to go skiing, rushing to get back to work. My life was one big rush.

Tell me how you were so prepared for this war.

My brother, James, and my sister, Karen are devoted followers of the Bible. They are Born Again Christians. James tried to forewarn us months before the attacks, but I didn’t believe him. James made the preparations for all of us.

Why didn’t you believe him?

It just wasn’t in my realm of possibilities. I didn’t believe that the end times were near. I wasn’t a follower of the Bible and I didn’t have the strong beliefs that James and Karen had. Plus, Richard kept telling me that James was insane and to ignore him. And, I never would have believed that the United States could have suffered such total destruction and devastation. I never imagined that this could happen to our country.

Do you now have stronger beliefs?

Oh yeah! I’m still not sure if this was a warning from God or the work of the devil. But, I do believe that God protected us. I do believe that God saved us and I do believe that it is now my job to bring people back to Him.

How did James choose the location for your shelter?

My Dad grew up on a farm in New Hampshire. We summered there as kids and adults and I brought my own kids there. It’s a very quiet and peaceful place. It was always a safe haven, a shelter from the loudness of life. James built the shelter under one of the open fields with the help of a new friend, Peter. He built an amazing shelter. It was beautiful.

Can you describe it?

Hmmm. I think you need to read the book, The Shelter at Papa’s Farm. There’s a pretty good description in there.

Are you still living in the shelter?

Yes, for now. We need to build some houses. There are too many of us to live at the farmhouse. But, we have no building supplies. Shipments are starting to arrive from all over the world but they are being used to rebuild the cities. We have to wait, we have to be patient. It’s difficult to wait. We all want to be above ground again.

Was your entire family together when we were attacked? Were you all in the shelter?

No, my two girls were away at college when we were hit. We didn’t get them home. Richard and I argued about that for a long time. Richard was adamant that nothing was going to happen, that James was a kook and that he wasn’t making the girls come home just because James had this feeling.

It amazes me how many people blog. Prior to writing my book and getting it published, I had no idea what blogging was all about. Many bloggers give book reviews and tell a little about the book. Those blogs have helped me find the books that I might be interested in reading. I have also met some great people on the blogs, willing to give advice or help whenever and wherever they can. So, keep on blogging - blog friends.
