I've always had an interest in writing but never had the time to sit and write a book. I enjoyed putting together the newsletter for my neighborhood association and I wrote many letters to the editor, during my years as a town meeting member, when I got my feet wet in town politics. My grandmother's death and the sale of the family farm is what inspired me to write the book. I didn't realize it until quite some time after the farm sold how much I missed the tranquility, the dark nights full of stars, the feeling of calm while at the farm. It didn't surprise me when the farm became the safe haven for my fictional characters after a nuclear attack on the US. I hope you enjoy reading The Shelter at Papa's Farm once it is released, sometime in early winter.
I wish you the best of luck with your first novel. I can't wait to read it. Maybe you'll be as successful as Kathryn Stockett was with her first novel!
Look forward to reading it. Rick L
ReplyDeleteHi, Betty. I'm wondering where you got the inspiration to write this book. Have you always wanted to be a writer? How did you start? Pat
