Alisha's Story - Launch party - May 16, 2015
Oh, what a night! Thank you to my friends and family who came out to support me and my most recent book, Alisha's Story, Sequel to the Shelter at Papa's Farm. The party was a great success. There is nothing better than sharing my work and creations with cherished friends and family. We had beautiful weather where guests were able to mingle inside or outside on the deck. The kids were able to play out in the yard, running off their energy. And, there was enough room for others to sit around the dining room table enjoying Chicken Wings, Shrimp Jambalaya, Lasagna Roll Ups, Ziti Chicken and Broccoli, Ziti and Meatballs, Salad and Chicken Salad. Dessert included Brownies by "Cathy" and a light and fluffy Cool Whip salad. I also made a Sangria -- a little too tart for me, but the pitcher was empty at the end of the night!! I was asked to write a book of my recipes! What a wonderful compliment -- hey, maybe I will. Thank you again to everyone who came out to kick off my marketing campaign for Alisha's Story but especially for the support you always show me!!

My new book, Alisha's Story, the Sequel to the Shelter at Papa's Farm, is in the process of being formatted and the cover is being created. Release date is April 6, 2015 - the day after Easter. I might have a few pre-release copies available before that date so, stay tuned. I am giving you a little preview here tonight - the back matter and the prologue. I hope you enjoy it:
Back of the book:
Back of the book:
After living in a shelter during a nuclear attack on
the Unites States, the Cochran family emerges from the shelter at Papa’s Farm
and struggle to get back on their feet.
Alisha Cochran, one of the main characters, narrates
the story bringing you through the hardships the family experiences while
trying to return to a normal way of life.
As they try to rebuild their farm, they go through
dealing with a new government that is taking away all their liberties and
freedoms, including the right to bear arms and the freedom of speech.
Prologue
My name is Alisha
Cochran. I am the wife to Richard; the
mother of Melissa, Jennifer,
and Alex; and the sister to James, Karen, Michael, Keith, and Susan.
Before the war, my brother James
tried to warn all of us that the end of the world was coming. James and my sister, Karen, have always been
great readers and followers of the Bible.
They have been Born Again Christians their entire adult lives. They accept Jesus Christ as their personal
savior and feel their purpose is to spread His word and the fulfillment of
God. James and Karen were certain God had
decided enough was enough and Armageddon was upon us. I, too, believe in Jesus Christ and that
he is my savior. However, I do not
openly preach the Bible or His word as they do. I have my beliefs and I know that God is my
great protector. I do not believe, as my
brother and sister do, that this war was a warning from God, that we are living
in the end times. I believe this was the
work of the devil. The devil overcame
the leaders in the Middle East. Those
leaders tried to force the hand of God, to try to force the end of the
world. But it didn’t work. God has not forsaken us as some believe. The devil’s hand was to destroy us; God’s
hand was to save and protect us.
But, James and Karen believe the
Rapture has occurred and we were left on this Earth to save those who have been
left behind. They are certain that the
Anti-Christ is living among us. They are
waiting for the end days.

Finished!!
I have finished writing Alisha's Story. Finally - yeah! Right now, it is at 80,038 words. Once it is edited, the word count will most likely be decreased. And, once it is edited, I will share some of the story with you. Editing takes time - it's difficult to go through the editing process. I am still hopeful to have the book ready for publication by early March, 2015. Hope you'll keep watching for it!!

Hello
Thank you to all my faithful fans for continuing to follow me even though I haven't been very good at posting!! My other interest, painting, has kept me too busy but I am back now to writing. The sequel to The Shelter at Papa's Farm is just about finished. Alisha's Story, starts where The Shelter ended and is narrated by one of the main characters, Alisha. She tells the story of what has happened to the Country, to the Farm, to her family and friends. The book should be finished and edited and ready for publication by early March, 2015. I also took a trip to Italy with my sister. We traveled Rome, Southern Italy including Sorrento, Positano, Mt. Etna, Pompeii, other ruins, the Vatican, and then Sicily. My grandparents were from Spadafora, Sicily and we were able to meet and visit cousins there and walk the streets our grandparents walked. It was a wonderful trip and experience. I have tried to post pictures, but they won't take -- sorry. I have so many beautiful ones!! If you ever do get a chance to travel, Italy is certainly worth visiting. So, I am back to writing!! Once edited, I will post when and where it's available. I might even post the prologue or chapter here -- stay tuned!

I think it worked!
I think it worked!! Could someone comment back and let me know if the last post shows up for you -- would so appreciate it! Thanks
It's been a while!!
Well, I bought a new computer and for whatever reason, I can't post comments or administer my page!! So, I am back on my "old" laptop to see if I can still operate this blog. Sorry to my faithful followers that I haven't posted lately, but I haven't been able to figure out the compatibility issue. So, I have been busy with the sequel. No, sorry again, it isnt finished yet but I am so close!! I will post here when it's finished and will give you a "sneak peak" here. I was at an author's night last night held at a boutique in Whitman, MA - The Flying Pig Emporium - where my book is for sale. I have other items there too - my art, my soaps, my candles, and other crafts. It's a neat store and my "art" has kept me away from finishing my book - but (wow, lot's of buts, here) I am back to my sequel. I sure hope this posts!! Thanks again for following me!!
