My first book signing/presentation was held last night at my local library.  I am a writer.  I am not a speaker and have always shyed away from speaking publicly.  All week long, I told myself, "Self, you can do this, you can do this!!"  I entered the library, said hello to the librarians, saw my daughter waiting for me and headed to the area that the signing would take place.  We set up the table with my books, a sign-in notebook, bookmarks, and my new business cards.  The head of Adult Services at the Library set up a refreshment table -- filled with wonderful baked goods and bottled water for our guests.  As the guests arrived and friends and family gave me hugs and new friends shook my hand, I realized, Wow, this is really happening.  I was introduced to the "crowd" and I began my presentation with a shaky voice and a bit of (that's an understatement) nervousness but by the time the question and answer part of the presentation began, I was feeling better and even thinking, hey, this is fun, we're talking about me and my book!!!  My book!!  Yes, my book!!  So, now I am looking forward to my next book signing!  Thank you to everyone who attended, who purchased my book, and who have supported me through the entire process of writing and publishing my novel, The Shelter at Papa's Farm.
